A Summer Solstice Day Retreat
Sunday, June 22nd in Rockport MA. | 10-5 PM
Joanna Benevides + Rachael Duda Maitland
Our enchanting summer season is almost here, and we’re being called to bloom!
The Summer Solstice is a sacred portal of expansion—the longest day of the year, when the sun is at its peak and the energy of abundance and transformation is amplified. To harness the energy of this time, we invite you to join us at the historic Windhover in Rockport Ma., a well-known non-profit performing arts center that has become our sweet and sacred gathering space to honor and celebrate the cycles of the seasons.
Our day will be filled with an enriching immersion of ritual and ceremony, yoga and meditation, creative movement and dance, sound therapy and art, all complemented by a seasonal lunch artfully crafted using locally sourced ingredients to nourish both body and soul. A beautiful blend of earth-based wisdom, holistic practices, wonder and play to spark renewal and inspiration as we engage with, and deepen our relationship with the natural world.
Your Day Includes:
~ Fresh Juice/Herbal Tea and Organic Fruit upon arrival
~ An awakening Morning Yoga/Movement Practice designed around the 5 Elements
~ A nourishing Heart-to-Table Vegan Lunch crafted by Catrina Muolo, the Chef and Owner of Planted. This woman-owned small business is celebrated for its nutrient-rich, plant-based creations that highlight the beauty and flavor of wholesome ingredients.
~ An afternoon Yin/Restorative Practice to connect to the still point of the Solstice
~ Meditation with Crystal Sound Bowls
~ Nature Crafting where we work with our hands, and let nature’s wisdom guide us in mindful artistry
~ A custom Speaks in Flowers Ritual Mist made with sacred flower waters to help you stay cool + hydrated this summer.
* We also encourage you to take advantage of being on the coast during this powerful portal time, and conclude your day by visiting one of Rockport's nearby beaches. This is a beautiful opportunity to honor the water, connect with the sea’s healing medicine, and (one of our most beloved solstice rituals) take an invigorating and dive into her embrace. We will be sharing our favorite nearby beaches, as well as some charming local spots to hang and watch the sunset.
Windhover’s Magic:
Rich in history, Windhover is a non-profit performing arts center tucked away in charming Pigeon Cove in Rockport Ma. that has served the community as a place to learn, perform, and share the beauty of dance and the related arts in a natural setting for over 50 years. It is located on 4 ½ acres of beautiful open meadows, forest’s, and outdoor gardens with sacred and rustic architectural treasures where you are fully immersed in nature. The name Windhover symbolizes the soaring of one’s imagination and the spiritual quest that informs art.
These gatherings are centered around fostering connection and community, and are an open and loving space for all. They are a coming together of all ages and backgrounds, and spaces to learn and grow together in reverence and reciprocity with the land.
Optional BIPOC Discount: We provide an optional discounted rate to those who identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Color.
We also provide a sliding scale for those with financial constraints. Please reach out to us directly here and we will work out a plan for you to join us!
*We will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Cultural Survival, an Indigenous-led non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the rights of Indigenous Peoples worldwide for over 53 years. The core of their work rests on the principles of supporting, amplifying efforts, and raising awareness of self-determination and political resilience for Indigenous communities. In a time of increasing threats to human rights, the environment, and sacred lands, our hope is to help support and empower Indigenous voices around the world that are deeply interwoven into lands, languages, spiritual traditions, and artistic expression.
